I’m the president of the school’s Interact Club. I found out about the club at the beginning of last year, and joined as soon as I could, so I’ve been a part of this for just over a year and a half now. The club has provided me amazing opportunities for myself to grow as a person, in ways I didn’t expect it would. Giving back to the community has always been important to me, but it’s felt significantly more achievable now that this club has given me ways to do so.
Our club strives to make a huge difference in our community, both locally, and internationally. Each year, we dedicate at least one fundraiser towards an international project, as well as multiple fundraisers for local projects. For example, last year we raised over $2,500 for Paws for Hope and Understanding charity and a new Wildlife Hospital that been implemented in Redland Bay. We also got to raise $540 for kids in Cambodia living in poverty, which was given alongside 120 boxes of Textbooks that the school no longer used (which was organised by the rotary). None of this could have been possible without the Rotary’s amazing contributions, and we’re all very thankful for it. This year, we’re supporting many more charities, which is so exciting, and we’re very excited for the help being provided from the new sponsors across the Kenmore Community that the rotary has brought to us.
