Establishing the ‘Famin Makes’ project, she sews hats, sells them, and donates all proceeds to WLSQ. Famin runs this project outside of her full-time work as a solicitor. At just 26 years old, Famin has raised over $61,000 for WLSQ to assist in providing free legal and social work services towomen and their children impacted by domestic and family violence (DFV) and contribute to systemic law reformregarding family law and DFV.
Famin was motivated to start the project through her own experiences of DFV and being turned away from WLSQ due to underfunding when her family reached out for help. Through Famin Makes, Famin has provided an enduring legacy of awareness raising and philanthropy for WLSQ.
In addition to ‘Famin Makes’, Famin volunteers her time as a WLSQ Ambassador. Famin is passionate about raising awareness about DFV prevention and law reform, using her platform to inform others on DFV through her Instagram page, podcasts, interviews, panel discussions, and public speaking.
This important advocacy, mythbusting and awareness raising to large communities has had a significant impactin changing the way that those who engage with ‘Famin Makes’ view DFV.
Famin’s determination to encourage others to give back is truly inspirational. She has shown a unique ability toengage the community in her vision, amplify support and raise awareness about DFV in the process.
